STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Dak Prescott had some impressive performances during his sophomore season at Mississippi State.

Now the Bulldogs' junior quarterback hopes a little more consistency can lead to even better things next fall.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Prescott threw for 1,940 yards and ran for 829 more last season while splitting time with senior Tyler Russell. Now he is the team's clear No. 1 quarterback for the first time.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen brought in 27-year-old quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson to work with Prescott. Johnson won 26 games as a quarterback at Utah and said Prescott has all the tools to be successful.

Johnson said Prescott has all the tools to be successful. He's also a perfect fit for Mullen's offense, which is at its best when the quarterback can run.
