FORT DODGE, Iowa — An Oklahoma woman suspected in the death of her newborn baby at a Fort Dodge hotel has been charged with first-degree murder.
The Des Moines Register reported authorities booked 31-year-old Hillary Tyler, of Mulhall, at the Webster County jail on Thursday.
Fort Dodge police says Tyler is the only suspect in the case but had to wait to formally charge her because of a “medical issue” she developed.
The dead baby was found on Tuesday. An autopsy was performed, but authorities declined to release specific details.
The sheriff's office says Tyler is being held on $1 million bond.
Tyler's attorney, public defender Charles Kenville, declined to comment on Thursday.
Tyler graduated from high school in Wyoming and later attended college in the state according to her Facebook page.
