Nicole Pascher, right, hugs an emotional A'Keshia Wilson as the two women met after Pascher had collected toys and gifts for Wilson's children.
Wilson came to the Salvation Army distribution location to pick up gifts for her five children, ages 11 months through 12 years old. When Wilson saw the cart filled with items for her children, she began to cry and was consoled by Pascher with a long embrace.
Pascher was volunteering at the toy distribution event for the first time. Wilson said this was her first time to accept donations from the Salvation Army for her family. She said the donated gifts will "make a big difference" on the faces of her children on Christmas morning.
"They will be so excited," she said.
The Salvation Army volunteers distributed toys and bicycles Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. The gifts were distributed at Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads. This event is the culmination of the gift-giving drive to the Army's Angel Tree Project. People who receive gifts and toys for their children were pre-approved by the Salvation Army during last months of summer.
