Multiple law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma City receive suspicious parcels

The first package was received by the U.S. attorney's office in the First Oklahoma Tower, 210 Park Ave.

A letter was opened and the message and a white substance fell to the floor, said Bob Troester, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office.

No evacuations were made, but heat and air services were turned off immediately after the letter was opened. Initial tests of the substance came back negative for anthrax, Troester said.

A similar suspicious package was found at the federal courthouse, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service said.

The U.S. Marshals Service would not say what was inside the package or if the package and letter were from the same sender.

The state attorney general's office also received a suspicious package.

“We knew it was coming. When it came, we worked with emergency officials. But we knew that it was coming ahead of time and that it probably wasn't dangerous,” spokeswoman Diane Clay said.

Clay said a letter included in one of the packages stated what other agencies would be receiving a package throughout the day.

And about 5 p.m., Oklahoma City firefighters were called to the FBI field office, 3301 W Memorial Road, to investigate a suspicious powder, fire Battalion Chief Brian Stanaland said.

No arrests were reported Thursday, and no suspect information was released by authorities.
