Murcer, Arvanitis lose battles with cancer

Former sports stars Bobby Murcer and Peter Arvanitis have learned the hard way, yet in different ways, about how to deal with cancer.

Former major league slugger Murcer had a cancerous brain tumor removed in December 2006. Maria Anna Arvanitis , the 20-month-old daughter of Peter Arvanitis, the former Blazers hockey star, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in February 2007.
