Police have added first-degree murder to the list of complaints a child abuse suspect is being held on after his girlfriend’s toddler died Friday.

Scott Allen Bolden, 24, and Heidi Benjamin, 19, were jailed on Wednesday after an unresponsive child was reported at their residence in the 6900 block of East Marshall Place.

The couple indicated that 18-month-old Angel Benjamin had been injured accidentally, but investigators said the child’s injuries did not match their claims.
