A rugged-looking green bus filled with prisoner of war artifacts will be parked outside three libraries in the state this week.

The Bus-eum 3 is a traveling museum that contains documents, letters, pictures and videos detailing the experiences of POWs who were housed in the Midwest from 1943 to 1946, said Caitlin Espersen of Traces.

Traces is a nonprofit that gathers and presents stories from people of the Midwest, Germany and Austria who encountered one another during World War II.

"It also covers the jobs that they did in the camp and what they did in their leisure time,” Espersen said.

"In the aftermath, some of them even returned to the U.S. and Oklahoma.”

The 40-foot bus stopped at 20 libraries in the state last month.
