Various (Local!) Artists “A Blackwatch Christmas” (Fowler/Nice People/Blackwatch)

Watching a clear red vinyl record spin on your turntable is almost as cheery as a blazing fireplace with stockings hung over it. That's just part of the holiday thrill you get from playing “A Blackwatch Christmas Vol. II,” an old-fashioned LP collection of original yuletide tunes and one or two classic carols performed by local artists such as Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Graham Colton, Brine Webb, Dead Sea Choir, Mike Hosty Duo, Jacob Abello, Denver Duncan, Parker Millsap, Sh- - - - /Awesome and Hector Comancho.

All but two of the 10 songs were recorded at Norman's Blackwatch Studios by central Oklahoma artists who should be famous, at least in the underground worlds of electro-pop, psych-rock, punk, spacey soul and alternative folk and country. Fowler VW — which has had a lot to do with the success of the new annual tradition known as the Norman Music Festival — offers this holiday gift at Bad Granny's Bazaar, Collected Thread, DNA Galleries and Guestroom Records locations.

If you don't own a record player, you're still lucky little girls and boys because you can go to or for more than 30 original Okie holiday ditties that don't require a phonograph. Let the musical nog knock you out!
