Musical returns to Oklahoma Christian University

“The Rock and the Rabbi,” a musical production about the friendship between Jesus and Peter, is returning to Oklahoma Christian University on Friday, Feb. 1, and Feb. 2.

Hamilton said audiences seem to particularly like the song “Follow Me.”

He said another part that resonates with audiences is the scene in which Peter realizes that Jesus is the Messiah and Jesus then shares with his disciple what role he will play in building the Christian church.

“Peter says ‘you are the Christ' and Jesus says ‘you are the Rock,'” Hamilton said.

“It's the part of the story where there is a recognition of who they are.”

Josh Watson, a communication specialist at OC, said Jody Jones, an OC finance professor, decided to invite the cast of the musical tour back because of the community's positive response to the show three years ago.

Watson said a portion of the proceeds will benefit OC's theater honor society, Alpha Psi Omega, and Giving Tree Theater.
