Mustang celebrates Christmas with visits from Santa

If you missed The Festival of the Tree on Monday, there are still plenty of Christmas-themed activities this month leading up to the big day.

“We've built it up slowly but we do quite a bit,” said Jean Heasley, assistant director of the Mustang Parks and Recreation Department. “People have been very responsive and we've been fortunate to have some very generous sponsors to help put these events on. We try to offer as much as we can for kids and their families this time of year.”

Parents can have free photos of their kids made with Santa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Town Center, 1201 N Mustang Road and again on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Santa will visit kids for breakfast Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Town Center, 1201 N Mustang Road. Kids can eat a pancake breakfast with Santa and make arts and crafts. Tickets are $5.

There also will be free holiday cookie decorating from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at Town Center.

Holiday events conclude with a free screening of the movie “Polar Express” at 7 p.m. Dec. 21, also at Town Center.

Heasley said this is the fourth year the Parks and Recreation Department has shown a holiday movie.

“It's become one of our more popular events,” she said.
