— Almost always, change generates emotion, either good or bad.

For Mustang football, the head coaching change has brought excitement.

Ty Prestidge left to become an offensive coordinator with longtime friend Todd Dilbeck at Choctaw, and the Broncos were able to lure Jeremy Dombek away from Edmond North.

Dombek had been a consistent winner at North, winning at least one playoff game in four of the last five years. Now he wants to take Mustang back to that level after the Broncos missed the postseason for the second straight year.

“People are always excited this time of year, but there seems like there's a different energy level,” Dombek said. “Our players have responded. Our coaches are doing a great job. I think we're right on schedule.”

The Broncos return key players at some important spots, like quarterback Frankie Edwards and left tackle Tristan Hill. Receivers Joey Snodgrass and Colton Hadlock are back as well.

Edwards has been a big fan of Dombek's style of offense, which is similar to what Mustang ran previously but gives the quarterback some more options in the run game.

“This pistol offense gets me on the edge more, a lot more play-action than what we did before,” said Edwards, who accounted for over 3,000 yards last season — 2,600 passing and 600 rushing. “It allows me to move around a lot more and use my legs a lot more. I love this offense.”
