David Glidden would rather not be injured. But at the same time, he's enjoying a little break this summer.
The three-sport star at Mustang typically has his June and July filled with 7-on-7 and team camps in football, summer league basketball and the seemingly endless schedule of summer baseball.
But some minor shoulder pain that lingered from baseball is giving the rest of his body a break.
"It's real nice to get a break and just relax in the summer,” Glidden said. "I'm working and working out and all that. But not having to go from football early in the mornings to basketball camp during the day to baseball at night, doing the same routine every day — I've done that before.
"Not that I don't like doing that, playing all three sports. But it's wear and tear on the body.”
Fortunately, Glidden already has determined his college destination, committing to Oklahoma State in late February.
"After last season, a lot of schools were talking to me, but nobody was too serious,” he said. "Once OSU came up — they were definitely my first option anyway — it was just such an easy decision. It's the biggest weight off my shoulders that I could ask for.”
In Stillwater, Glidden will join another former Mustang receiving star, Josh Cooper, who will be a junior for the Cowboys.
