Myriad Gardens receives restitution from prankster who dyed water features green on St. Patrick's Day

The Myriad Botanical Gardens says it has received $9,700 in restitution from the unnamed prankster who dyed the park’s water features green last month.

Spokeswoman Christine Eddington says the park will not press charges.

A vandal dyed the water green on St. Patrick’s Day. The park had to clean dye off rocks and sidewalks and spent money having the discolored water tested to be sure it was not toxic.

“We feel fortunate that this individual decided to come forward and make good on the damage caused by what was undoubtedly a prank not meant to cause harm or damage,” Maureen Heffernan, executive director of the Myriad Gardens Foundation, says in a press release. “We hope we’re sending a message that pranks that may seem harmless can in fact be very costly.”
