Name of girl, 2, who drowned is released

SAND SPRINGS — Sand Springs police have released the name of a 2-year-old girl who drowned in a family swimming pool and say she was the foster child of a Sand Springs police officer and his wife.

Police say Mia Teaff died Tuesday after being found in the family’s swimming pool by her foster mother. Police say the girl’s foster parents are police Sgt. Kyle Alexander and his wife, Amber.

Deputy Police Chief Mike Carter told reporters that Sand Springs police and the state Department of Human Services are investigating the drowning.
