Name released of pilot in Oklahoma fatal plane crash

Authorities have released the name of a pilot who died Saturday in a plane crash near Ardmore.

— A small airplane crash Saturday is under investigation, and the name of a pilot who died was released Monday.

Lawrence Brewer, 63, of Apache, was piloting the airplane when it crashed Saturday afternoon near Ardmore, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Brewer died at the scene.

Brewer was piloting a 1967 Piper Cherokee about 2:15 p.m. The airplane crashed about one mile south of Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport.

A 58-year-old passenger, whose name was not released by the patrol, was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Dallas and was admitted in critical condition, the patrol said.

The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, a trooper said. has disabled the comments for this article.
