Escapee identified as man police killed during stolen car chase
The man shot to death Thursday by two Oklahoma City police officers was an escapee from a state corrections center.
Tyler W. Hayes , 22, escaped March 8 from a center in Oklahoma City contracted by the state Corrections Department. He escaped sometime before the 11 p.m. bed check, DOC spokesman Jerry Massie said. Hayes was serving a five-year sentence for burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
