More than a dozen people were arrested Friday in a warrant sweep involving drug activity in Payne and Creek counties, officials said.

Law enforcement officers and agents with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control started the day with 26 arrest warrants after a two-month drug sting that involved undercover drug buys including methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription drugs.

Officers and agents began arresting suspects at 6:30 a.m. and had arrested 13 by the afternoon.

“Drug issues are affecting all of Oklahoma, and I commend local law enforcement as we stand shoulder to shoulder and strive to make their communities safer,” said narcotics bureau Director Darrell Weaver in a statement.

Those arrested were booked into the Payne County jail on complaints of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.
