Nashville rolls past RedHawks

The Nashville Sounds built an early lead and held on to beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks 7-3 on Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Nashville roughed up RedHawks starter Tommy Shirley (0-1), who was making his Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark debut. Shirley allowed 10 hits and seven runs in 61/3 innings. He walked four.

Nashville’s Sean Halton had two doubles and drove in three runs. Sounds starter Mike Fiers (7-5) allowed three hits and three runs in five innings to pick up the win.

Matt Duffy homered, and Domingo Santana had two hits for the RedHawks.

OKC will try to salvage a split of the four-game series in a 6:05 p.m. game on Sunday. Left-hander Rudy Owens (5-4, 5.16 ERA) starts for the RedHawks, opposed by Nashville right-hander Taylor Jungmann (4-5, 5.66).
