Get ready for a role reversal, country music.
Maddie & Tae’s “Girl In A Country Song” pokes fun at other country music videos that portray women as “pretty little things” in string bikinis and have no other purpose than to look good for a man and his friends on the weekend. It already has more than 1,500,000 views on YouTube.
This video portrays men as sex symbols and places them in the same outfits women are expected to wear. And by the looks of it, they don’t appear to be too comfortable in them either.
“I ain’t your tan-legged Juliet. Can I put on some real clothes now?”
The message is clear. They want to be treated with respect in a culture classified as “bro country.”
“We used to get a little respect. Now we’re lucky if we even get to climb up in your truck, keep our mouths shut and ride along. And be the girl in a country song.”
