National Signing Day: OU signee Justice Hansen thanks the important people in his life, including his trainers

Justice Hansen kept it short and sweet with the Edmond Santa Fe crowd.

The quarterback has spent the past few weeks on Oklahoma's campus after enrolling this spring, so returning Wednesday for National Signing Day was just a formality.

But as he sat with four other teammates, he had a chance to reflect on his time with the Wolves.

“This isn't going to take long,” Hansen said in his opening statement to the crowd.

He thanked God, his coaches, family, friends and fans. Somewhere in those 29 seconds, though, he found a way to thank the school trainers he became all too familiar with last season.

Hansen missed five games in the fall due to injuries and he's still recovering from a high ankle sprain he suffered in mid-October. He said the ankle is fine, though he is receiving treatment from trainers at OU every day as he enters a position that thinned even more with the announcement Wednesday that Blake Bell is moving to tight end.

“I'm still icing it and things like that after workouts just to keep it healthy, but it's good,” Hansen said. “It is (frustrating), but they say it can be a little swollen for a long time, but it doesn't feel too bad.”

This season, Hansen threw for 966 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing for 434 yards and 12 TDs.
