Man arrested in jewel heist
LONDON — Police said Wednesday they have arrested a suspect in connection with a daring daytime heist that netted $65 million worth of jewelry from a prominent London diamond merchant last week. Police said the 50-year-old man, who was subsequently released on bail, is not one of two men captured in security camera footage released by Scotland Yard.

Iran seeks way to guard nukes
VIENNA, Austria — Iran wants a 150-nation conference to ban military strikes on nuclear facilities. Iran proposed the initiative Wednesday and wants it put to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s general conference next month. Diplomats said the move is geared toward increasing pressure on Israel, which has not ruled out air attacks to cripple Iran’s nuclear program.
