Although we often tell ourselves that this year we’re going to slow down, relax, reflect and enjoy the Christmas season, this is rarely the reality. In fact, the hectic pace of life seems to intensify during the holidays. This big, full-color outdoor nativity display is a great reminder of the reason for the season, and it just might help you put some serenity back into Christmas.

Printed on weather-resistant poster paper with waterproof inks that resist fading, the display includes 14 figures that are about two-thirds life-size (the camels stand about 5 feet tall). Easy to put together and set up, the scene looks great in the yard, and it’s perfect for parks, businesses, churches and schools.

The only materials required are the posters, three sheets of plywood, waterproof glue and paint. Building the display is so easy, the whole family can help. Simply glue the posters onto plywood, cut out everything t and paint the edges and backs. Once the paint’s dry, attach stakes or stands and set up. Although the posters should last several years untreated, a coat of polyurethane sealer is recommended to extend the display’s life.

The Nativity Scene, No. 7, is $49.95 and includes five posters containing all 14 figures, plus instructions for a simple stable. It’s just as easy to bring the holiday spirit indoors with a plan for a wooden Tabletop Nativity, No. 884, available for $9.95. A free catalog picturing dozens of projects also is available. Include $4 for postage and handling. Allow about two weeks for delivery.
