Thunder center Nazr Mohammed wants to return to Oklahoma City next season.
Mohammed, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, expressed his desire to return by posting a series of messages on his Twitter account Monday.
“For all the OKC fans asking me about my free agency … My goal is to come back to OKC next season. I hope everything works out,” Mohammed wrote.
“In OKC I have (a) chance 2 compete 4 a Championship, opportunity 2 share what I know w/ (a) young team, chance 2 learn how 2 run a top notch organization & unbelievable fans …”
Mohammed will turn 34 on Sept. 5 and is the type of veteran leader the Thunder has made sure to have on the roster each of the past three seasons. The Thunder has two young centers in Cole Aldrich and Byron Mullens, however, whose development could command playing time next season.
Mohammed can't sign a new contract until the NBA and NBA Player's Association agree on a new labor contract. The current collective bargaining agreement expires June 30.
