NBA Christmas Day tripleheader sets ratings record

Thunder earns second-highest local rating of the season

— Kansas State fans will need to stay up late to watch the Wildcats play Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Tempe, Ariz. The game kicks off at 9:15 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. Sean McDonough, Chris Spielman and reporter Shannon Spake will call the game.

— For the eighth straight year, ESPN's “Monday Night Football” ranked as the most-watched series on cable television, drawing six of cable's 10 biggest audiences for the year. The 17 telecasts averaged an 8.6 rating, representing nearly 10 million households.

— NBC will air the 2014 NHL Winter Classic between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs at noon Wednesday from Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. The event is trying to set the Guinness World Record for highest attendance at a hockey game. The record (104,073) was set at Michigan Stadium in 2010 for the Michigan State-Michigan game. Mike “Doc” Emrick, Eddie Olczyk and Pierre McGuire will call the game.

— Tennis Channel will bring viewers coverage of the 2014 Hyundai Hopman Cup mixed-doubles tournament beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday at Perth Arena in Australia. The U.S. team of 6-foot-10 John Isner and Sloane Stephens will face Spain's Tommy Robredo and Anabel Medina Garrigues in its first match at 7 p.m. Monday.
