If Orlando center Dwight Howard receives one more technical foul, it will be his 16{+t}{+h}, which will force him to serve a one-game suspension. Howard has a nice-guy reputation off the court, but his passion often boils over. The slate is wiped clean for the playoffs. All players start the postseason with zero technicals.

→The players were insulted by the first proposal presented by the owners on a new collective bargaining agreement. The owners reportedly want to reduce the length and amount of guaranteed deals, i.e. move closer to a hard salary cap. Since it’s the biggest issue for a new deal by 2011, owners are hoping to find some middle ground after the season ends and before free agency begins on July 1.

→Atlanta point guard Mike Bibby sometimes struggles against quick point guards. With Milwaukee finishing strong, rookie point guard Brandon Jennings and the Bucks could give the Hawks all they want if they meet in the first round of the playoffs.

→Tom Penn, Portland’s vice president of basketball operations, was given credit along with GM Kevin Pritchard for rebuilding the Trail Blazers.
