This seems as good a time as any to throw a Dennis Green rant in the direction of those folk who already have conceded this year's NBA championship to the Miami Heat.

The 2006 Arizona Cardinals, coached by Green, led the 5-0 Chicago Bears 23-3 late in the third quarter on Monday Night Football. The Cards wound up losing 24-23 and Green went ballistic in his postgame news conference.

The NFL season hadn't even reached the halfway point, yet people already were crowning the Bears. Green's 1-4 Cardinals had Chicago beat that night in the Arizona desert, but blew it.

The Bears got to 7-0, went 13-3 in the regular season and advanced to Super Bowl XLI, where they lost 29-17 to the Indianapolis Colts.

Many already have begun to crown the Miami Heat as repeat NBA champions this season.

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers certainly had cause to get his Dennis Green freak on last June when his Celtics led Miami 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals and were headed home for a Game 6 clincher to advance to the Finals.

Instead, the Heat jumped out to a 10-point first quarter lead and manhandled Boston 98-79 at TD Garden.
