That taught former Oklahoma star and current Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin something.

He wanted to come back to Oklahoma and show the name they wear on their jersey is about more than just an individual.

“When a program has that tradition of guys going back and still being a part of it, it just helps,” Griffin said standing on the practice court at the Lloyd Noble Center. “It helps the overall vision of the program and the current players feel more a sense of pride that they’re just in a long line of guys that come before us.”

Griffin stopped by OU’s football practice on Friday. He didn’t have anything prepared. He just wanted to say hello. Coach Bob Stoops asked if Griffin if he wanted to say anything.

“I kept it brief,” Griffin said. “I just told them to keep working hard. The main thing is if everybody’s doing their job individually, then collectively, it’s tough to stop.”
