An Oklahoman has provided the biggest bracket buster of the NCAA Tournament so far.
No. 14-seed Mercer stunned 3-seed Duke 78-71 in the second round of the tournament on Friday. Mercer is coached by Bob Hoffman, an Oklahoma City native.
Hoffman has had various coaching stints in Oklahoma, from Southern Nazarene women’s hoops in the late 1980s – where he won an NAIA national championship in 1989 – to as recent as 2006 with the University of Oklahoma, where he was an assistant under Kelvin Sampson. Hoffman also played at Oklahoma Baptist and coached his alma mater from 1990-1999, and was The Oklahoman’s Little All-City Coach of the Year in 1983 after guiding Piedmont to the 3A state semifinals.
Pre-Mercer Bob Hoffman coached Southern Nazarene women, Oklahoma Baptist, UT Pan American, in ABA and D-League. Score one for the grind

Hoffman has been at Mercer (Macon, Ga.) since 2008, but his biggest win came Friday over the Blue Devils, setting up a matchup against 11-seed Tennessee on Sunday in the round of 32.
