“I’m glad we’re playing, no matter where we’re playing,” Martin said. “We have to give 100 percent on anybody’s court.”
LOECKER PROVIDING VALUABLE MINUTES
Freshman post Katelyn Loecker isn’t one of the most recognizable names on the Cowgirls’ roster, but she’s filling her role as well as anyone.
Against Purdue, she played only four minutes, finishing with one rebound and one steal. Maybe not an impressive box score, but Loecker’s two drawn charges that don’t show up on the stat sheet ended up being huge.
OSU often likes to run four-guard lineups, but against bigger teams, the Cowgirls need all the help they can get when forced into two-post sets.
That means Loecker’s minutes against Notre Dame, even if limited, could be as important as any player’s.
“She gives us energy,” Littell said. “She’s not going to score a lot of points, but she understands as well as anybody what we try to do defensively. She’s one of those kids that’s just a great teammate.”
