Nebraska's Bo Pelini is on the hot seat this week

Bo Pelini has done a good job at Nebraska. But he hasn't done a great job. And the Cornhuskers expect great.

Pelini has been remarkably consistent in Lincoln — four-loss seasons all five years, starting in 2008: 9-4, 10-4, 10-4, 9-4, 10-4.

The Huskers haven't won a conference title since 1999 and aren't picked to win the Big Ten this season.

Nebraska (2-0) survived a shaky opener against Wyoming, winning 37-34. Saturday, the Huskers host UCLA, which pinned a 36-30 loss on Nebraska a year ago in Pasadena.

Beat the Bruins, and Pelini could be headed for his standout Nebraska season. Lose to the Bruins, and he could be headed for a sixth straight four-loss season, which is not the expectation in Lincoln.
