Andy Pazder, the tour's chief of operations, presented a $30,000 grant on Thursday to the Children's Cabinet's executive director, Mike Pomi.

His visit to an economic conference in Reno was organized by Jana Smoley, executive director of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

The Children's Cabinet helps low-income families with child care, violence prevention and other services. The grant will be used to fund tutoring and other after-school programming for students in downtown Reno.

The PGA tournament at Montreux Golf & Country Club between Reno and Lake Tahoe has donated more than $2.5 million to nonprofits and schools in northern Nevada since it began in 1999.
