NORMAN — An ALDI grocery store on West Main Street, west of 24th Avenue NW, is expected to open in the spring. Construction of the 17,000-square-foot store is underway.
ALDI is a low-price grocer that operates nearly 1,300 stores in 32 states. This store will be the first to open in Norman. ALDI stores keep operating costs low by having customers check out shopping carts for a returnable 25-cent deposit and bag their own items. Store officials say they also cut operating costs by accepting only cash, debit cards or Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.
