NORMAN — The Norman Arts Council and Fowler Volkswagen have teamed to establish an award honoring extraordinary efforts in arts education.
The Fowler Arts Education Award will be presented annually to an individual who has given back to the Norman community through educating children about visual arts, music, theater or other creative disciplines. The award winner will be announced March 31 at the Norman Arts Council's annual ONE Event.
The award winner's portrait will be included on a mural painted by artist Scott Charles Henderson on the Fowler Volkswagen building, said Norman Arts Council Executive Director Erinn Gavaghan.
The mural, on Interstate 35, will showcase Norman's “ever-growing commitment” to children's arts education, Gavaghan said.
Jonathan Fowler, general manager for Fowler Volkswagen, said winners will be added to the mural each year.
Nominations for the award are due Jan. 31. To nominate someone, go to www.
