Bowlsey
Bowlsey has a mellow folk infused hip-hop style built on the
sounds of vintage organs, sythesizers and guitars bathed in
the big soulful vocals of lead singer Cid, the the deep and smooth
rap style of Shraz held together by the instrumentation of
The Reverend Hogun.

Taylor “Shraz” Mercier was born in Houston, Texas and grew up back
and forth between Katy, Texas and Oklahoma City. Shraz’s musical
development began when he started taking piano lessons at five years
old. When he was thirteen, he began learning to play the guitar and
the bass. After studying art and fashion at the Art Institute of Houston,
music became one of his more prominent methods of self-expression

Clarissa “Cid” Castillo was born in Brookshire, Texas and grew up
in Katy, Texas. She played viola throughout high school and started
the punk band, Lollisnot. With encouragement from Shraz,
her vocal style transformed into the unique sound that can best be
described as soulful and bold.

“The Reverend” Justin Hogan comes from Yukon, Oklahoma where, after
learning the piano at a young age, picked up the guitar while in
high school. Playing in a number of regionally successful bands,
his style and drive blah blah blah…

After an exodus from the ghettos of Houston, Cid and Shraz found
themselves living next door to The Reverend Hogan and the trio
bonded and began to collaberate. They quickly put together
a set that began to get noticed. After a handful of shows in
the first few months, they were invited to play at SXSW where
the Oklahoma Gazette’s Stephen Carradini described Bowlsey
performance s “mellow hip-hop and chill-pop vibes … strongly
listenable and especially memorable.”
