New district ranger announced in western Arkansas

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — A new district ranger has been assigned to the Cold Spring-Poteau District of the Ouachita National Forest in western Arkansas.

A.J. Brigance began work Monday overseeing about 334,000 forest acres in Scott and Logan counties. Brigance has spent the past 10 years as a timber contracting officer for the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests.

Brigance first worked for the Forest Service in 1968 as a summer student working in the Cold Springs Ranger District. His career has also included jobs with a forest consultant firm, Weyerhaeuser Company, Canal Wood Company and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
