New 'Justice League of America' has Oklahoma cover
DC Comics is launching a new “Justice League of America” title this month, and every state in the United States — plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico — will have a specialized cover.
The cover for Oklahoma features the heroes Green Lantern Simon Baz, Green Arrow, Catwoman and Vibe hoisting the state's flag. Each cover will feature a different flag representing the various states. The main cover will feature the heroes hoisting the American flag.
The creative team for the title is writer Geoff Johns and artist David Finch. Johns' “Justice League” No. 1 in 2011, with artist Jim Lee, was the best-selling comic book of the year. That “Justice League” comic, still ongoing, features Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Flash and Cyborg.
The “Justice League of America” features some lesser-known heroes.
“They're underdogs who have everything to prove and something to lose,” Johns said.
“Justice League of America” also stars Katana, Martian Manhunter, Stargirl and Hawkman, and is set for Feb. 20.
The comic will tie into DC Comics' upcoming “Trinity War” event.
Green Arrow is likely the best-known hero in the series, both in the fictional DC Comic and in the larger world. The show “Arrow,” on the CW, follows the adventures of the young Oliver Queen. Green Arrow has his own comic-book series as part of DC Comics' “New 52,” as does Catwoman. Katana and Vibe are each to star in new a series beginning in February.
