New Orleans home runs sink RedHawks

Asher Wojciechowski threw a complete game, but a pair of home runs doomed him to a loss as the New Orleans Zephyrs beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks 3-2 on Friday night in New Orleans.

Wojciechowski (3-3) allowed six hits and three runs in eight innings with seven strikeouts. But Matt Downs hit a game-tying solo home run in the fifth inning, and Donovan Solano blasted the go-ahead homer in the sixth.

At the plate

OKC DH Brett Wallace hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Jimmy Paredes and Jake Elmore had two hits apiece for the RedHawks.

Jonathan Villar had a two-out single in the eighth inning, but was picked off first base.

On the mound

Zephyrs reliever Jake Leverton (2-1) picked up the win. New Orleans' bullpen allowed just one hit in the final four innings. Chris Hatcher closed for his 23rd save of the season.
