New Orleans shuts out RedHawks

The New Orleans Zephyrs banged out 13 hits in an 11-0 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Holding a 3-0 lead, New Orleans plated six runs in the eighth inning and two in the ninth to seal the victory.

The Zephyrs' Kyle Jensen had a homer and three RBIs, and Jordan Brown added three hits and drove in two runs.

Zephyrs starter Brian Flynn (3-9) and reliever Adam Reifer combined to throw a three-hit shutout.

OKC starter Jake Buchanan (1-2) worked seven-plus innings, allowing eight hits and five runs with eight strikeouts. But Jose Valdez came on and gave up six runs, three earned, in 1 1/3 innings.

The RedHawks and Zephyrs play a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Bricktown. Jarred Cosart was scheduled to start Game 1, but he was called up to the Houston Astros and will take the mound against Tampa Bay, according to the Houston Chronicle. The pitching matchups for the doubleheader are still to be determined.
