New Orleans tops RedHawks, but Mike Hessman homers again

— Brad Hand tossed eight scoreless innings, and the New Orleans Zephyrs hit a pair of three-run homers in an 11-1 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Thursday night at Zephyr Field.

The RedHawks' Mike Hessman broke up the shutout in the ninth inning with a solo homer to center field, his PCL-leading 27th home run of the season.

The loss snapped Oklahoma City's four-game winning streak and marked the second time in six games the RedHawks lost by 10 or more runs.

RedHawks starter Brian Bass (1-4) allowed seven runs — four earned — and nine hits in four innings.

The Zephyrs released catcher Steve Holm, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Holm, who played at Oral Roberts University, hit .133 in 13 games this season. ... After sending starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel to the RedHawks following Wednesday's game, the Astros on Thursday recalled relief pitcher Enerio Del Rosario from Oklahoma City. ... Astros right-hander Wilton Lopez is on a two-appearance rehab assignment with the RedHawks. On Thursday, he worked one inning and allowed two hits, including a three-run home run. ... The RedHawks and Zephyrs continue the series at 7:07 p.m. Friday.
