NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — New Oklahoma baseball coach Pete Hughes has announced his new coaching staff, including the hiring of former Nebraska coach Mike Anderson.

Hughes also announced Tuesday that he plans to retain pitching coach Jack Giese and coordinator of baseball operations Ryan Gaines. Anderson will serve as assistant coach and hitting instructor.

Anderson was the head coach at Nebraska for nine seasons from 2003 to 2011 and led the Huskers to a College World Series appearance in 2005. He was the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2005.

Hughes was hired as OU's head baseball coach on June 27, replacing Sunny Golloway, who left the Sooners to take the head coaching job at Auburn.
