Is your refrigerator running?

If not, you can now make an online appointment to fix it.

Some Oklahoma City repair services are teaming up with a new website that lets customers compare providers and request appointments online.

Repair.com launched last week in 50 American cities, including Oklahoma City. The website connects people with local repair services for TVs and home appliances, including refrigerators, microwaves, washers, dryers, ovens, stoves, heating and air conditioning.

Unlike Angie's List, which also compares local repair service companies, Repair.com is free. It does not include customer reviews of repair companies.

The website prescreens repair service providers by putting them through criminal, substance abuse, sex offender and terrorist watch list background checks. Customers can compare the credentials of the approved service providers and view their schedules to make an appointment.

A repair person then calls the customer to discuss the problem and give an estimate. According to the website, the customer has no obligation to the company until he or she agrees to the appointment over the phone.

After the appointment, the customer pays the repair company directly, and the repair is guaranteed for 90 days.
