SYDNEY (AP) — Australia striker Adam Taggart's second goal of the match in the final minute gave the Newcastle Jets a 2-2 draw with the Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League on Saturday.
Taggart gave the Jets a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute before goals from Aaron Mooy before halftime and Michael Beauchamp in the 65th gave the second-place Wanderers the lead.
Western Sydney pulled to within four points of first-place Brisbane pending the Roar's match Sunday against the Central Coast Mariners to conclude the round.
In the other Saturday match, Wellington beat Adelaide 2-1 in the New Zealand capital after Costa Rica internationals Carlos Hernandez and Kenny Cunningham gave the Phoenix a 2-0 halftime lead. Adelaide was on a seven-match unbeaten streak.
The last-place Melbourne Heart, playing for the first time under the ownership of English Premier League side Manchester City, overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Sydney FC 2-1.
Jonatan Germano scored in the 52nd minute and David Williams in the 89th after Corey Gameiro gave Sydney FC and its captain Alessandro del Piero the lead in the 39th minute.
Last week, Manchester City took control of the struggling Heart, purchasing its license in partnership with Australian National Rugby League side the Melbourne Storm.
Heart coach John van 't Schip praised Williams' match-winning effort — the substitute striker gathered the ball in his own half before curling in at the back post.
"Every player needs a good moment and, for David, it was a fantastic moment," he said.
Perth Glory's marquee player William Gallas suffered another injury scare in a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory in Perth. Gallas, who missed seven games earlier in the season due to a calf injury, was substituted in the 84th minute after injuring his left leg in a heavy fall.
The former Arsenal and Tottenham defender limped as he slowly made his way to the bench.
A 36th-minute penalty by Guilherme Finkler put the Victory in front, but Perth leveled in the 50th minute when new recruit and Lithuanian international Darvydas Sernas scored with just his second touch in the A-League.
