— Mayor Charles Lamb and Councilmen Darrell A. Davis and Nick Massey were surrounded by family and friends as they took the oath of office this week.

All three have been on the Edmond City Council since being appointed to fill the terms of members who resigned or moved on to another council position.

Lamb and Massey were successful against their opponents in the April 2 general election. Davis did not draw an opponent.

Lamb won with 81.7 percent of the vote over Richard Prawdzienski.

Lamb, who was appointed mayor more than 18 months ago, will serve a full two-year term. He has been on the Edmond council for 16 years, serving the majority of the time representing Ward 3.

Lamb's wife, two children, five grandchildren, his mother-in-law and father-in-law joined him for the ceremony.

His two granddaughters played a role in his decision to run for office again, putting his retirement plans on hold for another two years. They were concerned they couldn't ride in the annual downtown Christmas parade if their grandfather wasn't the mayor of Edmond.
