BOEING BOUNCE: Investors bid up Boeing's stock, relieved that batteries weren't the cause of a fire on a parked 787 last week in London. Battery problems had grounded the plane for three months earlier this year. Boeing rose 3.7 percent to $105.66, the biggest gain in the Dow Jones industrial average.
BIG GAINS IN SMALL STOCKS: The Russell 2000, an index of small-company stocks, outpaced large stock indexes like the Dow and the S&P 500. The Russell gained 0.7 percent Monday and is up 22.8 percent this year. That compares to 0.1 percent and 18 percent for the S&P.
COMING UP: There's plenty of news for investors this week. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke gives testimony to Congress on Wednesday, and 11 Dow companies report earnings, including Coca-Cola, Verizon and American Express.
