News Summary: Hackers attack India telecom website

Associated Press Published: June 6, 2012

CYBERATTACK: A hacking group says it attacked the website of an Indian state-owned telecommunications provider, accusing it of censoring content on the Internet. One site was down for at least six hours, though the company denied any knowledge of an attack.

ABOUT THE GROUP: Anonymous India is a spinoff of Anonymous, an amorphous group of activists, hackers and pranksters whose past targets have included Visa and MasterCard.

THE COMPLAINT: A post on hacking group Anonymous India's blog said the company was attacked because it had blocked several file sharing websites.
