News Summary: NYT adds tech heavyweights to board

Associated Press Published: June 21, 2012

TECH TOP-UP: The New York Times added technology heavyweights Joichi Ito and Brian McAndrews to its board of directors. Ito was an early investor in Twitter, Flickr and Kickstarter. McAndrews is a venture capitalist specializing in technology startups.

DIGITAL TRANSITION: There are now 13 board members, four of whom have a significant technology background. The appointments come as the Times attempts to ramp up digital revenue following the introduction of its digital "paywall" in March last year.

CEO NEXT?: The Times is still looking for a CEO following the resignation of Janet Robinson in December. While Ito and McAndrews aren't on the search committee, they will contribute to the selection process.
