Putnam City teacher arrested on rape complaints
Putnam City school officials said teacher Lisa Kays was removed from the school Thursday. The 46-year-old Spanish teacher — accused of having a relationship with a student — was arrested on three complaints of rape and two counts of forcible oral sodomy.
Edmond City Councilman David Miller leaves
Longtime Edmond Councilman David Miller made his final motion at his last city council meeting Monday. His resignation was official Tuesday. Residents can apply to fill the position.
Dumping endangers Edmond waterways, officials say
Edmond officials are asking people to stop dumping in the city's waterways. Contaminants from trash can seep into the groundwater and Arcadia Lake, which are sources of Edmond's drinking water, and also interfere with recreational activities and wildlife habitat.
Escaped McAlester inmate recaptured in Shawnee
David Mcalpin, 24, a man serving time for several counts of concealing stolen property and drug possession, escaped from a McAlester correctional center Monday night and stole a vehicle in the area. He was recaptured three hours later in Shawnee.
