Anthony Joseph Palma, 56, of Midwest City, was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in October in the abduction and presumed death of 8-year-old Kirsten Renee Hatfield in 1997. Palma's attorney said he tried to commit suicide Thursday in the Oklahoma County jail.
