NewsOK, The Oklahoman win 24 first-place awards

The Oklahoman staff and NewsOK.com were honored Saturday at the annual Oklahoma pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists contest, winning 24 first-place awards.

MIDWEST CITY -- The Oklahoman staff and NewsOK.com were honored Saturday at the annual Oklahoma pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists contest, winning 24 first-place awards.

Awards for work done in 2013 were announced at the organization’s annual banquet in Midwest City.

Oklahoman reporters swept awards in eight categories and NewsOK.com was named best news website.

“I am proud of the men and women of this newsroom every day, and especially proud when they are recognized by their peers in the industry,” said Kelly Dyer Fry, editor of The Oklahoman and vice president of news for OPUBCO Communications Group.
