NewsOK | BLOGS and The Oklahoman claim second Emmy

by David Morris Modified: July 14, 2014 at 11:33 am •  Published: July 14, 2014 and The Oklahoman has won its second Emmy, winning in the “Audio” category at the 28th annual Heartland Regional Emmy® Awards on Saturday night. You can watch “Broken Beyond Repair” above.

NewsOK's Kyle Roberts was on hand Saturday to pick up the hardware. Roberts worked with Greg Singleton, Todd Fraser and Dave Morris on this project.

The video features world-renowned violinist Kyle Dillingham as he performs “How Great Thou Art” in an abandoned warehouse in downtown Oklahoma City. He performs on several broken instruments to highlight the message: in our own brokenness there is beauty.

The video accompanied The Oklahoman’s Thanksgiving centerpiece in 2013. An interview with Dillingham and George Lang can be seen here: and The Oklahoman previously won an Emmy last year for “Thunder In Motion” in the “Commercial – Single Spot” category. You can watch that spot here: and The Oklahoman have received five Emmy nominations since launching a video department in 2007.

The Heartland chapter includes these markets/DMAs: Denver, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita/Hutchinson, Omaha, Colorado Springs/Pueblo, Lincoln/Hastings-Kearney, Topeka, Grand Junction/Montrose, Cheyenne/Scottsbluff and North Platte.
